Nine mango farmers who are cooperators of Bataan Peninsula State University’s (BPSU) mango project received Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) certificates from Department of Agriculture (DA).
BPSU Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training Services Dr. Hermogenes Paguia said the awarding of certificates was held during the recent DA Region 3 Annual Regional Awarding of the PhilGAP in Pampanga.
Bataan farmers who received PhilGAP certificates were Ernesto D. Quinto, Wilfredo Reyes, Eduardo Dimalanta, Florante Santiago, Nestor Pizarro, Elmer Morales, Nestor Loyola, Christopher Patambang, and Leila Cabalteja.
The farmers were assisted during the event by BPSU mango project study leaders Dr. Rina Q. Paguia and Cherrilyn E. Ventura.
Bulacan Provincial Governor Daniel Fernando graced the event and expressed his commitment and support to the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Systems (PAFES). The signing of memorandum of agreement for PAFES was also conducted.
Another highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new PhilGAP Food Safety Logo and the placing of barcode stickers on produced crops.
